On the foothills of the ‘Oudenberg’ in the Flemish Ardennes, lies the small city Geraardsbergen. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it is the perfect place to relax. In the city centre, you are at the right spot for a nice day full of culture and history. Walk around, and take a look inside the many magnificent eighteenth- and nineteenth-century buildings and monuments.
Very close to Geraardsbergen lies the small town Lierde. Make it a full day out, and enjoy even more culture, history and nature. Don’t forget to visit the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Hemelveerdegem, where the gorgeous Altarpiece of Saint John the Baptist has its place. In the Church of Saint Martin, you can find the female Flemish Master Elisabeth Seldron. Worth one’s while!
